A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Falls City In Karnes County, Texas, on Thursday, as confirmed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
According to the USGS, the earthquake occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m., about three kilometers northeast of Falls City within Karnes County, with a depth of 3.7 kilometers.
As of Thursday morning, there is no available information regarding any damages or injuries resulting from the earthquake.
The seismic event marks the 20th earthquake in the area with a magnitude of 2.5 or higher within the past 30 days.
The most significant quake, registering at 4.7, was recorded on February 17.
Last summer, two minor earthquakes rattled an area 11 miles east of Jourdanton in Atascosa County, neighboring Karnes County.
The initial earthquake struck just prior to 11:30 p.m. on July 18, 2023, measuring at a magnitude of 3.9. Subsequently, less than an hour later, a 3.2-magnitude quake occurred.
Fortunately, no damages were reported from either seismic event.
In September of last year, Karnes County experienced a sequence of four earthquakes over the span of a week.
