25 miscreants arrested over assault on DPO in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested 25 suspects in connection with the violent attack on the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division, CSP Adamu Alhaji-Idi.

The officer was reportedly assaulted by a group of suspected notorious miscreants popularly known as Kalare on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 while carrying out his duties in Kwadon town.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the officer sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where he is currently receiving treatment.

“The Gombe State Police Command strongly condemns the recent violent attack on a serving Divisional Police Officer and wishes to inform the general public of the ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement read.

“On 20th May 2025 at about 0900hrs, the Officer-in-Charge of Operation Hattara received a distress call from the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations Gombe State Command, reporting a brutal assault on CSP Adamu Alhaji Idi, the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division.

“The officer was attacked by a group of notorious Kalare miscreants in Kwadon town and sustained multiple degrees of injuries, including a deep wound to his forehead.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for urgent medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.

In swift response to the emergency, a team of patrol officers from Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaki, Officer in charge of Operation Hattara, and other police officers was deployed to the scene.

Following coordinated tactical operations, the following 25 suspects all residents of Kwadon town were apprehended in connection with the incident: Dayabu Abubakar, 29, Mohd Idris, 22, Mohd Kabiru, 25, Badamasi Hamisu, 29, Mohd Auwal, 19, Sani Mohd, 19, Auwal Dauda, 30, Zaidu Sulaiman, 35, Shehu Mohd, 58, Sunusi Mohd, 25, Sani Adamu, 45, Hassan Ahmad Bashar, 65, Hassan Mohd, 45, Abubakar Umar, 22, Adamu Adamu, 30, Mohd Hashimu, 19, Absolon Larry, 18, Umar Abubakar, 48, Aliyu Mohd Gambo, 22, Hassan Shehu, 22, Usman Ahmad, 59, Abdulrahman Musa, 23, Mujahideen Musa, 20, Auwal Baffa, 22, and Sulaiman Yahaya, 21.

“All suspects are currently in police custody undergoing discreet investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, they will be charged to court accordingly.

“As part of the Command’s commitment to restoring calm and ensuring accountability, the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Bello Yahaya psc+, alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, visited the scene in Kwadon town.

“Their visit was aimed at assessing the situation firsthand, commiserating with officers on ground, and assuring the community of the Command’s resolve to tackle criminality without compromise.

“The Command reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards violence against security personnel and warns all criminally minded individuals and groups to desist from such heinous acts.

“The police will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law upon anyone found guilty of disrupting public peace or endangering the lives of law enforcement officers.

“The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, urges residents of Kwadon and the state at large to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the police in the ongoing investigation.”
