The Niger State Government has successfully concluded the transportation of all 2,281 intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The pilgrims, drawn from the 25 local government areas of the state, were airlifted from the Bola Tinubu International Airport in Minna.
Their journey was facilitated through six scheduled flights coordinated by the Niger Pilgrims Welfare Board in collaboration with relevant aviation and logistics stakeholders.
Governor Umaru Bago described the smooth completion of the airlift as a testament to effective partnership, proper management, hard work, and commitment by the state government, the Pilgrims Welfare Board, and all agencies involved in the operation.
The governor specifically commended the 2026 Amirul Hajj, who is also the Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, for his leadership and guidance throughout the exercise.
In addition, the state government praised the efforts of security agencies, the medical team, travel agencies, airline personnel, and airport officials for working tirelessly to ensure a seamless, orderly, and hitch-free operation.
