Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested 25 persons during a raid on a hotel in Argungu town as part of efforts to curb social vices.
The operation was carried out on Friday, July 3. Director of Shariah at the Board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the arrests in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.
Kamba said 12 men and 13 women were detained over alleged involvement in immoral activities. He said the raid was part of an ongoing campaign to uphold moral standards and ensure public order in the state.
“The Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel in Argungu and successfully apprehended 25 suspects allegedly involved in immoral activities,” he said.
The board said it is conducting investigations and will follow due process. Kamba added that those found culpable would face appropriate legal action. The state government has not yet disclosed the specific charges as investigations continue
