The All Progressive Congress (APC) has not broken any law in substituting Mr Bashir Machina’s name with that of Senate President Ahmad Lawan for the Yobe North senatorial district in the list of names submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This was disclosed by the national chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu in an interview on Thursday.
It had been earlier reported that Machina had participated and won the primaries to represent the Yobe North Senatorial District, only for the party to send the name of Ahmed Lawan to INEC as winner.
However, The APC chairman advised Mr Machina to tread carefully, saying his comments are becoming too ‘overbearing.’
“Machina should be very careful. I will advise him to tread carefully, his comments are becoming too overbearing and I will advise him to be careful”.
He then added that no law was broken in the substitution of Machina’s name for Lawan’s.
“To the best of my knowledge as the national chairman, we didn’t violate any law in substituting his name.”
Mr. Machina has vowed to take legal action to retrieve his ‘mandate’.
