Operatives of Ondo State Police Command have arrested two men identified as Olopade Abraham and Emmanuel Taiwo for allegedly abducting a Senior Traffic Warden, ST Oliniju Kehinde.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abayomi Jimoh.

The police explained that on the 3rd of April, 2026, one of the suspects, while driving a Toyota Avensis vehicle with registration number NND 398 EA, in the company of Taiwo, flagrantly disobeyed traffic lights at Cathedral Junction, Akure.

The statement added that in the course of enforcing compliance, a “Senior Traffic Warden, ST Oliniju Kehinde attached to ‘A’ Division, contravened the offending vehicle”.

“While being directed to proceed to the station, the driver suddenly detoured to an unknown destination with the officer still in the vehicle.

“Upon raising an alarm, a nearby patrol team attached to Fanibi Division swiftly responded, pursued, and intercepted the vehicle at Winners Chapel Junction, Ondo Road, Akure, where the traffic warden was safely rescued.

“The suspects were eventually taken into custody along with the vehicle,” the statement added.
