Students of Ejioku Secondary School in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State in the early hours of Monday took to the street to protest the death of four fellow students who were killed by a truck conveying sand.
According to reports, the students were crushed by the truck driver who was trying to avoid killing sheep on the road.
Witnesses reported that the pupils were going to school on a commercial motorcycle when the truck crushed them to death along Iwo-Ibadan Expressway.
The incident forced students of the school to begin vandalising articulated vehicles in Ejioku.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, assured that the police would do everything to nip the growing tension in the bud and restore peace in the area.
He said “It is true. The DPO told me that the incident happened when the driver of the truck was trying to avoid killing some sheep and rammed into the students on the Okada.
“Police have moved to the area to ensure lives and properties are not vandalised by the angry students.”
