Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 from terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the rescue occurred on 22 August 2026 during a fighting patrol by Sector 2 troops.

The troops responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and kidnapped six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road. On arrival, troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into nearby bushes.

Following an exploitation of the area, all six victims were rescued unharmed. Troops also recovered the ₦800,000 earlier taken from them. The money and the vehicle were handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.

In a separate operation on 21 August 2026, Sector 2 troops encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara LGA. The troops engaged the terrorists, who fled in disarray into surrounding bushes. During exploitation, one motorcycle was recovered.

The Joint Task Force said it remains resolute in sustaining aggressive patrols and offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect lives and property in the North West.

It also urged communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations.
