The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, on Wednesday met with six governors of the party and some APC National Working Committee (NWC) members in Abuja over the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list of the party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Also at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, the venue of the meeting, is a former National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
The governors in attendance at the meeting held behind closed-doors are Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Sani Bello (Niger), and Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa).
The 422-man campaign list released earlier by the PCC Director-General (Lalong) had generated some controversy but the party appears to be taking a second look at the list ahead of the official flag off of campaigns by the Presidential Campaign Council.
Some of those excluded in the list are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and a former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.
Lalong subsequently postponed the inauguration of the PCC members for the expansion of the list to “accommodate more stakeholders and interests within the APC family”.
