The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu has debunked rumours that the Tiga and Bagauda dams have been affected by flood.
According to the Minister, the spillway at the two dams were functioning and the level of water in the dam have not risen.
Adamu spoke during a joint assessment visit to the Tiga and Bagauda Dams respectively with Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Hassan Fagge on Wednesday in Kano said the Minister directed the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority to continue with routine maintenance of the dams.
Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna, Ganduje assured of the commitment of the government towards ensuring protection of lives and properties of its citizens.
