The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspected land grabbers who allegedly wreaked havoc in a community, shooting six persons.

The suspects – Adewale Muyibi, Kamoru Ayodele and Taofeek Ogundele – were arrested on Monday, October 25, after allegedly invading Jegede Village in Igbesa area of Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Council with all sorts of dangerous weapons and shooting indiscriminately.

In the aftermath of the attack, six members of the community sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries, the police revealed.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 27.

A press statement issued by Oyeyemi disclosed that the swift arrival of policemen from Agbara Division at the scene, who acted on a distress call, forced the miscreants to flee, but three of them were not as lucky as others that escaped.

The police also rescued the six injured victims and took them to the hospital.

The victims, according to the release, were Sunday Okorie, Shoneye Akeem, Lekan Oloyede, Jimoh Musibau, Akande Oyedeji and Hamzat Idiris.

20 cartridges, comprising six live and 14 expended, were recovered from the suspects.

“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation. He also directed that other fleeing members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice”, the statement revealed.

CP Bankole has consequently warned land grabbers to steer clear of the state, “as their violent activities will not be tolerated by the command under his watch”.
