The federal government in collaboration with governors of troubled North West region of Nigeria are working hard to restore peace in all the trouble areas in the Geopolitical region.

Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal disclosed this when he visited two displaced persons camps in Dan Daji Makau and Garin Kaka all in Maradi region of Niger Republic.

Gov. Tambuwal said effort is in progress to ensure the displaced persons are relocated back to Sokoto and resettled among their people.

Majority of the displaced persons from Sokoto in the Nigerien camps are from Sabon Birni local government area in the Eastern Senatorial District of the state.

The Sokoto state Governor applauded the displaced persons for the report of their good conduct and abiding to the laws of their host communities.

He appealed to them to continue in that light while awaiting the completion of the arrangement to relocate then to their homes in Nigeria.

Ten trailer loads of assorted grains and other food items had earlier been supplied as support to the displaced persons by the state Sokoto state government.

Earlier, the Governor of Maradi Region in Niger Republic, Zakari Oumaru said the displaced persons from Nigeria are not from Sokoto state alone but there are some from Katsina, and Zamfara states.

He said the statistics of the displaced persons is not available for now but the number is certainly far less below the number bern circulated in some media houses within the sub region of West Africa
