Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has congratulated his Ondo State counterpart, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), on the affirmation of his election by the Supreme Court.

Fayemi, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti, said that the apex court, had by that judgement, put a legal seal on the popular choice made by the people of Ondo State at the Oct. 10, 2020 election.

Fayemi urged the Ondo Governor to be magnanimous in victory and let the triumph serve as motivation for better service delivery to the people.

He commended the people of Ondo State for maintaining peace throughout the period the case lasted at the Election Petition Tribunal, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

Fayemi also commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, for exercising their constitutional rights to the highest court in the land instead of resorting to self-help.

The Ekiti governor, also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), said the case would further enrich the nation’s electoral jurisprudence.

“This is a great news not only for my brother, Gov. Akeredolu and our party: the All Progressives Congress (APC), it is victory for democracy.

“I congratulate Gov. Akeredolu and the people of Ondo State for the atmosphere of peace that reigned throughout the period of the judicial process.

“Indeed, the people are the real winners of the contest.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ekiti State, I congratulate Gov. Akeredolu, the government and people of Ondo State and wish the governor a successful tenure,” he added.
