The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar on Saturday turbaned the Governor of Zamfara, Hello Muhammad Mutawalle as the new Shettiman (High Grade Courtier of) Sokoto.
Also turbaned by the Sultan was the Deputy Governor of Sokoto, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya, as the new Walin (Custodian of) Sokoto.
The ceremony, attended by Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and few officials of Sokoto and Zamfara state, noted Sultan Abubakar was low profile in compliance with the COVID-19 protocol which prohibits large gatherings as preventive measure against getting infected with the virus.
However, the Sultan admonished the new traditional title holders to consider their elevation in the monarchical realm as additional call to duty.
He said the Sultanate Council deemed them worthy of recognition because they have proved their mettle as true servants of the people.
Meanwhile, later in the day, Sultan Abubakar treated members of the Alumni Association of National Institute (AANI) to a sumptuos
meal.
Punctuated by delivery of lectures, the occasion also featured the presentation of souvenirs to some of those in attendance.
