Ahead of the commencement of National Sports Festival, tagged “Edo 2020” scheduled to commence on April 2nd , athletes, coaches and other backroom staff in the camp of Team Nasarawa have had their doses of the COVID-19 Oxford Astrazeneca Vaccine.
The move was in compliance with the directive by organizers of the Sports Festival and the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 that all participants heading to the event must first get vaccinated.
A statement by the PRO, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Eche Amos said the team successfully had their Vaccination at the Lafia local government Secretariat.
Originally billed to hold in 2020, the 20th National Sports Festival, after suffering series of postponements owing to the outbreak of the global coronavirus pandemic, will now come up in Benin City, Edo State, from 4th April and will climax on 14th of same month.
The Games Village will be opened from April 2-3, 2021, for the State contingents’ arrival before the opening ceremony slated for Sunday, 4th April, while the closing of the Games Village and departure from Edo State to contingents’various destinations is billed for 15th April, 2021.
Over eight thousand athletes are expected to partake in the fiesta, with Team Nasarawa bracing up to make a mark.
