The Speaker of the Sokoto House of Assembly, Aminu Manya Achida (APC/Wurno) and the member representing Wamakko constituency have defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Announcing their defections at the house plenary on Thursday, Achida hinged their defections on the internal crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
According to them, was factionalized in the state and they were not satisfied with the way the party was ran by its leaders.
They cited the 2019 crisis in Zamfara’s APC as a result of which the party lost everything to the then opposition PDP.
It would be recalled that, Achida emerged speaker against the wishes of his former party which nominated the member representing Illela, Bello Musa Ambarura as their candidate for speakership in the then APC dominated House.
Since his emergence, Achida had stopped participating in all the activities of the party, despite the fact that he was not missing any activities organized by the PDP-led government in the state.
