A former special assistant to the Minister of Police Affairs, Idris Muhammad Gobir, was on Wednesday unveiled as deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Sokoto state ahead of the 2023 election.
In an interview during the unveiling, state chairman of the party, Alhaji Isa Acida, said the party governorship candidate, Ahmad Sokoto, after wide consultation with the party stalwarts and stakeholders, has settled on Idris Gobir as his running mate.
Gobir was also a former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and one-time Sole Administrator of Sabon Birnin Local Government Area in the state.
The 47-year-old, who is an alumnus of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria also has five master’s degrees in various disciplines of human management and development, including computer software management, as well as international affairs and diplomacy.
In his acceptance speech, Gobir thanked Ahmad Aliyu, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, and the party stakeholders in the state for finding him worthy, promising that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him.
He further added that he would work with the party leaders in the state to ensure APC wins the 2023 governorship election
