The House of Representatives has called on the Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbotokun to prosecute NDLEA officers accused of killing 2years old Ivan Omhonrina in Delta State.
Recall that the toddler was killed on 13th July in Asaba, Delta State while his younger brother was shot in the eye during a raid of a drug joint by NDLEA Officers.
The House made the call on Tuesday following a motion moved by Uyime Idem on the floor of the House.
The lawmaker said the extra-judicial killings by law enforcement agents must be curbed by ensuring swift intervention.
He added that “reoccurring killings of innocent Nigerians by stray bullets pose significant risks and consequences for individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole.”
Following the presentation of the motion, the House resolved that the NDLEA and other agencies should invest in the training of officers.
In addition, a-minute silence was observed to mourn little Ivan Omhonrina.
