Following a recent prison break in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, the Police in Zamfara State have beefed up security at Gusau correctional centre in Zamfara State.
The measure, according to a statement by spokesperson of the state police command on Tuesday, Muhammad Shehu, was to avert any security threat in the facility.
It said Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Elkanah, had visited the facility to analyse the situation in the facility to ascertain the level of threat.
The statement said the commissioner went round the facility with the state Comptroller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
It quoted the commissioner to have said the police were fully committed to the security and safety of all correctional centres in the state.
