The Presidency has justified the decision to switch from national grid to solar energy in powering the State House.
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the White House in the United States, US, also uses solar energy.
Onanuga argued that transitioning aligns with global best practices, stressing that the use of solar energy to power high-level government facilities is not unprecedented and reflects a commitment to sustainability.
He illustrated his point with a video of a similar project executed in American, which explains the reasons the US Presidency opted for the solar alternative.
Posting on X, Onanuga wrote: “The White House in Washington D.C. uses solar power.”
This comes as the Federal Executive Council, FEC, approved the sum of N10 billion for the installation of solar energy to power the Presidential Villa.
