Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Arrest Five Suspects

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have rescued three kidnap victims, also arrested five suspected kidnappers and neutralised one during a gun duel. 

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, December 21, said two fabricated guns, Gsm Handsets, accessories, chains, padlocks were recovered from the suspects.

“On the 19/12/2021 the Command’s operatives attached to Maiha Division, following information from a reliable source reveals, that some suspected kidnappers were sighted on Pakka Hills situated in a remote side of Maiha local government,” the PPRO stated. 

The Commissioner of police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, immediately deployed the Command’s operatives attached to Maiha Division in sustained collaboration with military, other sister security agencies and some hunters to the area.

As a result three suspects were arrested after gun duel that neutralised one of the kidnappers. 

They are: Muhammed Umaru, 37, a resident of Pakka Village, Maiha local government, Hamidu Idrisu,30, and Haruna Musa,42, both residents of Macimi village, also in Maiha LG. 

The joint operation led to the rescued of three victims; Hadiza Abubakar, a 35 year-old woman, resident of Kuna village, Maiha local government, Hamidu Musa 20-year- old resident of Pella village, Hong local government and Buba Sale, 18, a resident of Pella village, Hong LG. 

The suspects while interrogation confessed to have kidnapped the victims from their various addresses and were negotiating for ransom.

Similarly, on the 16/12/2021 the command’s operatives attached to Gombi Division while on stop and search operation acted upon credible information received about the movement of suspected kidnappers and apprehended Iliyasu Bako, 26, and Rabiu Habu,25, all residents of Zurmi local government Area, Zamfara State.

They freely confessed to have kidnapped one Babagida Alh Ruwa of Garfete village, Gombi local government.

On the strength of that, the Commissioner commended the Divisional police officers of Maiha, Gombi and their men for making it difficult for such criminals escape arrest.

The CP further calls on members of the public to continue giving credible and timely information regarding any person of suspicious character around their neighborhood to police.

The police boss further directed discreet investigation into the matter and assured that the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.
