The Lagos State Police Command has recovered the Mace of the Ogun State House of Assembly which was stolen on Thursday after suspected hoodlums burgled the speaker’s office.
The stolen mace was retrieved on Friday at Abule Ado area of the State by the policemen attached to Trade Fair Station.
A statement from the command said the cops worked on intelligence from the members of the community who alerted them that someone in a moving vehicle, suspected to be a Toyota Siena Space Wagon, threw out an object into the nearby bush.
When the bush was combed by the police, the object turned out to be the stolen Ogun State House of Assembly Mace.
The statement added that the mace had been handed over to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
It added that Odumosu instructed the DCP State CID, Lagos State, Yetunde Longe, to protect the mace and liaise with the Ogun State Police Command on the return of the recovered mace to the State.
The Commissioner, however, promised to assist the Ogun State Police Command in the investigation into the incident that led to the recovery of the mace.
