The Rivers State Police Command has announced that it has launched an investigation into a violent attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor.

In a statement released today, June 22, the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, reported that on June 20, 2025, at approximately 1:40 PM, a group of about thirty assailants stormed the Council Secretariat and attacked Iheanachor.

‘’During the attack, the hoodlums assaulted the Sole Administrator, stole his mobile phones, forced him to sign a letter purporting his resignation, carted away vital documents, including official and personal documents from his office. The Administrator is currently undergoing medical treatment due to the injuries sustained during the violent attack. He is in stable condition.”

Iringe stated that the command unequivocally condemns this reprehensible act and has taken swift action. She mentioned that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, visited the scene of the attack, accompanied by the heads of other security agencies in the state. Following this, he directed the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Chief of Staff (COS), and all other individuals involved in the incident to report to the Police State Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, for questioning.

She added that the commissioner emphasised the command’s commitment to pursuing justice and warned that failure to comply with this invitation would result in severe consequences.

Meanwhile, the sole administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor, has denied reports of his resignation from office. He claimed that he was assaulted by men who presented him with an already signed resignation letter.

“I did not resign from my appointment as the sole administrator of Ahoada-East.

I was attacked in my office, and the letter they brought was not signed by me. I know nothing about the letter.

I want to tell members of the public that I did not resign as the sole administrator of Ahoada East, and any other information aired is null and void. I am still the sole administrator of Ahoada-East.” he said
