Katsina State Police Command has arrested six suspected informants to bandits and notorious syndicate of thieves alongside a company foreman and security guards who sold stolen iron rods to them. 

Spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, April 1, said that one of the arrested informants, Ibrahim Abdulrasheed, also supplies vehicles to a wanted notorious bandit terrorising some communities in the state.

“On 23/3/2022 at about 0630hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Abdulrasheed ‘m’ of unguwar mai darasu, Dan musa LGA, a notorious informer and abettor to terrorist,” he stated.

“The fact of the case is, the suspect received the sum of two million five hundred thousand (2,500,000.00) naira from one Kamilu Buzaru ‘m’, a wanted notorious terrorist who has been terrorizing Safana, Dan musa and Dutsinma area of the state and bought a brand new Toyota hilux meant for the terrorism activities through one Abu Kasim ‘m’, who in turn employ the services of his neighbor one Kamilu alias Ahuwa all of Mara Zamfarawa via Danmusa LGA, who purchased and delivered the vehicle which was handed over to the terrorist at Unguwar Maudarasu village. In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.

In a similar development,police operatives also arrested three suspected informants who invited bandits to kidnap two persons in their village.

“On 22/03/2022 at about 1700hrs, based on a tip off the command succeeded in arresting the trio of one (1) Nasiru Sadi ‘m’ aged 20 years (2) Bala Alhassan ‘m’ aged 22 years and one (3) Aminu Abdulra’uf ‘m’ aged 20 years all of Kabalawa village, Sabuwa local government area,” the statement read.

“Nemesis caught up with the suspects when on the same day the suspects conspired among themselves and invited armed bandits hibernating in the forest to kidnap the duo of one (1) Alhaji Ali and (2) Malam Rabi’u ‘m’ all of Kabalawa village. In the course of investigation, the suspects were arrested and they confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.

Police arrest six bandits

Meanwhile, the command on March 31, succeeded in arresting three suspected thieves, named; Jamilu Muhammed ‘m’ aged 40 years of unguwar dahiru via funtua LGA (2) Muttaka Sabi’u ‘m’ aged 22 years and (3) Rabi’u Dahiru ‘m’ aged 30 years all of the same address.

“Nemesis caught up with the syndicate when they were intercepted by a team of Policemen on routine patrol along Dana steel rolling company road in a Golf III wagon motor vehicle loaded with iron rods suspected to be stolen,”

“During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the iron rods are property of Triacta construction company and the suspects confessed to have bought the said iron rods from one (1) John Micheal ‘m’ aged 32 years a store keeper (2) Hassan Ali ‘m’ aged 29 years, a foreman (3) Elpha Sunday ‘m’ aged 27 years, a helper (4) Abdulkadir Aliu ‘m’ aged 26years, a security guard (5) Buhari Bala ‘m’ aged 27 years, a security guards (6) Hamisu Usman ‘m’ aged 42 years, a security guard, all attached to the company.

The suspect confessed to have bought the iron rod severally from the above mentioned staffs. Investigation is ongoing.
