The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 58-year-old suspected gun manufacturer, Peter Okolie and nine (9) others from Agba Quarters Emuhu in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe who confirmed this in a statement said the arrest was made by the Anti-Cult Unit, SACU led by SP Christopher Igbaji.
Edafe said forty-two (42) locally made single barrel guns, six (6) double barrel guns, three (3) pump action guns, two (2) filing machines, and a toolbox containing fabricated materials and working tools were also recovered from the suspects.
He said the arrest was based on credible intelligence received by the Delta State Police Command of a syndicate specialized in manufacturing locally made guns.
DSP Edafe noted that Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali detailed the SACU team which carried out intensive raids on criminal hideouts in the area and recovered the guns.
DSP Edafe said, “the exhibits were in custody and an investigation is ongoing.”
“He advised all to continue to partner with the Command by giving useful, timely and credible information that will help the Command to nip crime in the bud.”
