A passenger train from Kaduna to Abuja has crushed a middle-aged woman to death on along the Chikakore axis in the Kubwa Area council of the FCT today December 15.
The incident happened at about 10am about five minutes to the Kubwa Train Station, while the woman who was driving in her private vehicle attempted to cross the rail line as the train was coming on high speed.
The spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Josephine Adeh, has however confirmed the death of the lady.
DSP Adeh, said upon receiving information of the incident, investigators attached to the Byazin Divisional Police Headquarters were drafted swiftly to the scene and took charge of the situation.
She said the victim was confirmed dead by a medical practitioner on ground.
”Investigation has commenced by the Rail way division having jurisdiction over the track. Findings and safety tips already existing will be reiterated to ensure a non repeat of incident shortly.” she said
The remains of the victim have been evacuated by security personnel while the damaged car was immediately removed from the rail track in order not cause further accident.
