Parents of the 39 abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State have continued to protest demanding the release of their children.
The parents who defied military officers held the protest at the school premises carrying banners with photos of all the abducted students as well as placards demanding the release of the students.
At a press briefing shortly before they staged a protest at the premises of the College on Monday,the parents issued a 48-hr ultimatum to federal government and security agencies to facilitate the return of their children
They lamented that since the abduction, they had not heard any information from the government and the school authorities about efforts being made to free their children.
The spokesperson of the aggrieved parents, Kambai Sam said the government has not done enough to rescue their children.
“We have put our trust in the government and the school authority to rescue the students in good time and safety but that has not happened.
“We as parents have not received any positive message from either the school management or the Minister for Environment under whose ministry the school is or the Kaduna State government under whose territorial jurisdiction the school is located.
“This silence is unacceptable as it only feeds our hopelessness with each passing day,” Sam said
The students were kidnapped last Thursday. It was the fourth school abduction in northern Nigeria since December.
The kidnappers are now demanding N500 million ransom.
