One person has been killed while seven others were injured after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Gashua Community in Yobe state.
Gashu’a is about 188 kilometers north of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital and is the ancestral home of the incumbent President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan.
The incident was said to have happened on Sunday night at a local drinking joint at Abasha ward in Gashua, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Council of the state when Muslim faithful were observing late evening prayer.
The Chairman of Bade Local Government Area, Sanda Karabade, who confirmed the explosion said three male and four female were injured in the explosion.
He said the victims are receiving medical attention at Specialist Hospital in Gashua.
Although no group has claimed responsibility but many believed it was orchestrated by Boko Haram Terrorists.
This incident followed a similar one masterminded by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in the Geidam community of the state where nine persons were killed.
