Ondo State Government has ordered that all students in private and public schools, as well as state employees, must go to work and school on Fridays in traditional attires.
The decision according to the state government, was taken to encourage culture and traditions among state citizens.
This was revealed in a media briefing that took place shortly after the state executive council meeting by Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation.
According to Ademola-Olateju, the state exco took some significant choices about other pressing matters.
“Basically, we are declaring Friday as a cultural Day. For students of both private and public schools, it is permissible to wear their cultural attires to schools on Fridays.
“You will agree with me that your culture makes who you are. With the Western Civilization today, culture is going into extinction.
“We have to make sure that we protect our culture from going into extinction.”
