In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the corps, Aidamenbor Daniel, he said that “Achibong was arrested for molesting his own daughter who is 14 years old since she was 8 years.

“This has been going on for 6 years until a few days ago when the girl (name withheld) summoned courage to confide in her teacher when the Ondo State Primary Health Care officers visited her school on a sensitization programme on Human Papilloma Virus vaccine.

“The suspect has since confessed to the crime, and he would be prosecuted in the law court for his crime of rape, molestation and incest”.

In another development, the Public Relations Officer also disclosed that a suspect, Agu Nzube Matthew, has been arrested for allegedly duping one Mr Mba Daniel of N5.94m by impersonating the Protocol Officer to the Governor of Enugu State.

According to him, “a complainant had a parcel of land acquired by a well-known person in Enugu and a compensation was promised.

“Since the news of the compensation went viral, the suspect approached the complainant claiming he was the protocol officer in the Governor’s office and informed him about the release of a cheque of N9 million for his compensation but that some civil servants needed to be ‘settled’ to get the cheque out.

“After collecting a total sum of N5.94m illion, he closed down his shop in Akure and ran away. The suspect was however tracked and arrested in Enugu on the 16th of May, 2024.”

Also, Daniel said that a 28 year old man, Ojo Oluwasola, male, was arrested at Ifeoluwa Community, Shagari village, Akure while attempting to steal a vehicle in the community, saying that the suspect was apprehended by the community and handed over for profiling and investigation.

The spokesperson said that the suspect had confessed to a crime of car theft and that he would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
