Details of the meeting were not formally disclosed as at the time of filing this report but Obasanjo has since confirmed the visit, describing the engagement as constructive and focused on governance and leadership.

“Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she said.

“Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”

She expressed appreciation to the President for the engagement, noting his continued role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic process.

“I sincerely thank the President for his time, wisdom and his lasting commitment to strengthening our democracy and supporting the next generation of leaders,” she added.

Obasanjo, a medical doctor and former Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, previously represented Ogun Central Senatorial District in the Senate.

She is also an academic with international experience and has recently intensified her engagement with key political stakeholders since signalling interest in the governorship race.

She further indicated that consultations would continue as political activities gradually build toward 2027.

“As we continue consultations ahead of 2027, I remain committed to serving with integrity, experience and a people-centred approach,” she said.

“The journey continues with purpose, clarity and enduring dedication to Ogun State.”

The meeting is expected to fuel further speculation about emerging alliances and strategic positioning within the APC as the contest gradually gathers momentum.
