The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday October 17, 2022, arraigned one Ofozie Chris Onyedikachi for financial fraud.

Onyedikachi was arraigned before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of N30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira).

The offence is contrary to Section 285(9) (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

The one-count charge reads:

“Ofozie Chris Onyedikachi between 28th February, 2022 and 5th March, 2022 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your own use the gross sum of N30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira), property of Oyewole Titilayo Hannah.”

He pleaded “not guilty” to the charge preferred against him.

The prosecuting counsel, G.K. Latona, prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable the prosecution prove its case against the defendant.

“We also pray the court that the defendant be remanded at the Correctional Centre,” he added.

The defence counsel, Lekan Egberongbe, who held the brief of U.C. Jonathan, informed the court of the application for the bail of the defendant.

“It has been filed but has not been brought before your lordship,” he said.

Justice Dada adjourned the case till November 8, 2022 and ordered the remand of the defendant at a Correctional Centre.
