Following the rumours making the rounds that Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is battling a life-threatening illness, the governor on Tuesday said their is no cause for alarm that he is recuperating speedily.

Akeredolu who revealed that he has been recuperating stated that his state of health has not in any way affected his official duties as governor of the state.

The state of health of the governor had since Monday been a source of concern to the people of the state following a yet-to-be-verified audio alleged to be from his wife, Betty in which she dropped a hint about his condition.

Betty had in a leaked audio attacked Bunmi Ademosu, Special Adviser on Public and Inter-Governmental Relations to Governor, to stop given her husband concoction to drink.

Betty hurled insults at Ademosu, telling her to leave her husband alone, calling her all sorts of names.

“I have a message for Ademosu, and I believe that she is on this Aketi women platform, I don’t have her number and I don’t think she is worthy of me having her number.

“I want this woman to stay away from my husband, stop sneaking concoctions, according to her, they are from her pastor, her fake pastor to give my husband to drink.

“We rely on medical care, we rely on western style of medical care and Aketi will get well. But what has triggered this message is her recent nocturnal meeting to become the deputy governor of Ondo State.

Look at you, what have you got upstairs to be the deputy governor of Ondo State?“Yes, if anything happens to Aketi and Lucky takes over, it is a constitutional thing, but for you to be scheming, I warned Aketi from the word go that this woman is no good and it is happening, she has nothing good for you, I warned you, this woman is bloody evil, but I am warning her for the very last time to stay away from my husband,” said bitterly in the leaked audio.

Betty added: “Look, you are dealing with an Igbo woman in this situation, I will deal mercilessly with you and you will never forget in your life.

“For the very last time, Ademosu, whatever you called yourself, stay away from Aketi, stay away from sneaking in those concoctions, stay away this woman, you won’t find it funny with me O!, you are a very terrible human being. Go away and go and enjoy your loot.”

But in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olabode, he said the Governor has since last week been involved in rigorous activities, hence the people should dismiss the rumour of insinuations that he is not active.

He added that the Governor was actively present during the presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state on January 7 as well as the activities of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

“Governor Akeredolu, just like every other mere mortal has had some health challenges for which he has since received treatment and recuperated speedily.

“Since the Governor is not a superhuman and the immunity his office enjoys does not extend to physical wellness or otherwise, the health issue is therefore not an unusual one.

“However, contrary to speculations and insinuations making the round, the Governor though frail, is discharging his official functions.

“The Governor will continue to discharge his official duties to the good people of Ondo State in line with the Redeemed Agenda of his administration while he finds quality time to rest for renewed vigour and strength just like any man in his situation.”
