The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has adjusted the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, at its retail outlets in Abuja.
Checks indicated that filling stations in Wuse Zone 6 and Zone 4 have increased their pump price from ₦890 to ₦905 per litre, reflecting a ₦15 increase or a 1.7 percent rise.
Abubakar Maigandi, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, attributed this price increase to supply disruptions caused by the recent standoff between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery.
He noted, “It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption; however, members are still selling at ₦885 and ₦895 per litre.”
Last week, PENGASSAN initiated a two-day strike in protest against the mass dismissal of Nigerian workers by the Dangote Refinery, which disrupted gas and fuel supplies nationwide.
Following federal government intervention, the union decided to suspend the strike after the Dangote Group agreed to redeploy the affected workers.
