Meta-owned Facebook and instagram on Tuesday suffered massive glitch with many users unable to gain access to their accounts.
Many users initially feared their accounts were hacked, with fruitless efforts to reset passwords.
Reacting, the company said it is aware of the challenges the users are facing, saying that the problem is being resolved.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesman Andy Stone said in a post on X.
Facebook is the world’s largest social media platform, with three billion active monthly users while instagram has about 1.35 billion users, according to the latest data.
This is not the first time a Meta-owned platform has faced issues.
Facebook suffered a global outage in 2022, making many unable to watch videos or send messages.
