A small medical transport plane on Friday evening crashed into several buildings in north-east Philadelphia, U.S, injuring people and setting fire on homes and vehicles.
This happened two days after a collision happened between a commercial jet and a military helicopter in Washington DC. That crash was said to have led to the death of the 67 people aboard.
The jet involved in the Friday crash was said to have on a medical transport mission. On board were a child patient, her mother, and four crew members. All six of them were Mexicans.
Shai Gold, a spokesman for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, told NBC that the child on board the plane was receiving care in the U.S. for a life-threatening condition and returning to Tijuana, Mexico.
He confirmed that the girl was accompanied by her mother, a pilot, a copilot, a doctor and a paramedic.
Gold said the the child’s treatment was sponsored by a third-partner charity.
“She fought quite a lot to survive, and unfortunately, this tragedy on the way home,” he lamented.
Apart from those on board, the crash affected people on ground.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker said city officials did not know the number of fatalities.
But a spokesperson for Temple University Hospital-Jeanes in Philadelphia said six people who were injured on the ground, were treated.
Three were said to have been released after getting medical treatment while the condition of the others remained unknown.
