The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde on Wednesday commissioned 8.86km Weekly Scope Road, Mustapha Ismail Extension, Dougirei Lane, Likki Taba Street, Mayo Inne Street, Jalingo Street, and CSC Street Township Road in Jimeta Yola North Local Government Area.

Governor Makinde said that “in PDP we always say that our Governors mean business, and we believe in Infrastructure and Development. Those that can’t keep up with our work rates often end up going over to the other side where all they do is offer excuses and shed tears and we know they will shed more tears in 2023”.

Makinde congratulated the people of Adamawa State for making the right choice in choosing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to lead them for the betterment of the people. He said the People who made the right choice when it matters most always reap the benefits of good governance. He pointed out that we must pay attention to two things when it is time to elect our leaders; the party and the candidate.

He said as we begin to make decisions for 2023, let us choose the party that stands for prosperity and not the one that preaches poverty.

Governor Makinde thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for the opportunity given him to visit Adamawa State. According to him driving from the airport, he saw the 8 lanes highway and the overhead bridge being constructed all nearing completion, and also saw an underpass and another overhead bridge being built, so he said from the look of things, they may not recognize Yola again very soon.

Speaking during the occasion Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said people can recall that during the campaigns, he promised to change the face of the State Capital and Major Towns in a bid to uplift the living standard of citizens and provide an enabling environment that will attract investors that will help unlock the economic potentials which abound in the State. This is in fulfilment of his cardinal points of the 11-point Agenda towards ensuring that “No one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.”

Governor Fintiri said since assumption of office, he ensured that the security architecture of the entire State has been reviewed and the one for the State capital completely overhauled to deal with the menace of the dreaded ‘Shilla boys’ that terrorize residents even in broad daylight.

He said it is to the credit of this administration that people can now sleep with their both eyes closed and their doors wide open even in the darkest of nights. Also, his Administration has reclaimed all the land that belongs to the GGSS Yola and fortified the school to provide a conducive and secure atmosphere for learning and work will soon begin on the comprehensive rehabilitation of our secondary schools.

The Governor said his administration is committed to bringing an end to the perennial water scarcity in Jimeta and the attendant consequences on the residents of the metropolis and also dealing with the huge housing deficit in the State.

“We are constructing a 1,000 Units Housing Estate at Malkohi, though in Yola-South, it will also provide direct means of livelihood to teaming artisans from Yola-North. It is noteworthy that works have reached advanced stages as we are determined to complete and commission the project and ensure that our population is adequately housed, and our people are proud owners of houses that they can afford on friendly mortgage terms”.

He said “with the right forecast when COVID-19 started early last year, his Government foresaw that the effect of the global economic shutdown, will bite harder and tougher in the second half of this year (2021) for the State, just as it is for other entities across the world, this is one of the toughest moments for survival”.

As a responsible Government, we deployed adequate resources into the design of an economic response stimulus for the State.

While admitting that the situation is tough, it can only be tougher for those who refuse to act at the right time. Our window for economic survival is unlocking our potentials that are secretly hidden in Agriculture and its value chain. It is against this background that we are set to launch the ADAMAWA STATE AGRIBUSINESS SUPPORT PROGRAMME and we are hereby calling on all our citizens to explore the programme and prepare to exploit the vast opportunities that abound therein.

The Governor said, as an administration, our vision is to have an Adamawa State that is financially self-sufficient; where the cost of governance both recurrent and capital can conveniently be defrayed from the streams of revenues invented within, and the guiding philosophy is to ensure that “No one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.”

The Governor commended the efforts of the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Energy Hon. Adamu Atiku and his entire Technical Team and the Contractors, Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, for a job well done, and he reiterates that they have not only justified their pay but have surpassed our expectations.

In their goodwill messages, The Secretary to the State Government Mallam Bashir Ahmad, Hon. Commissioner Works and Energy Development Hon. Adamu Atiku, Member Representing Yola North in State House of Assembly Hon. Lekki, Hakimi Jimeta and Dan’Isa Adamawa Baba Inuwa Paris among others applauded Governor Umaru Fintiri for his laudable achievements in Yola North.
