Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has urged the new members of the State House of Assembly to unite and work for the interest of the state irrespective of political differences.

Lawal made the appeal on Tuesday while meeting with the newly inaugurated lawmakers at the Council Chambers at the Government House.

“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate the 24 lawmakers inaugurated. The constitutional assignment which you all were elected for is an enormous task.

“I assure you that my administration is an eager partner with the State legislature, and we should work in harmony to maintain the partnership”, he added.

“Zamfara State is faced with numerous challenges, ranging from insecurity to decay in educational and other key issues of concern.”

“Politics is over and it is time to unite and reposition the state because we have no other state than Zamfara”.

The Governor appealed to the lawmakers to maintain a constructive partnership with the Executive arm of government.

Recall that the Zamfara State House of Assembly, on Tuesday inaugurated its members for the 7th session and elected presiding officers as required by the constitution.

Bilyaminu Ibrahim Moriki (Zurmi North) was unanimously elected Speaker of the Seventh Assembly, assuring that the lawmakers will accord the Executive arm of government maximum support and cooperation for the betterment of the state.

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said Lawal received the leadership of the Seventh Assembly for familiarization.
