The Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA Academy has trained about 100 school pupils on effective waste management and good environmental practices.
The pupils drawn from different schools in Lagos State, were trained during 2022 week summer school at LAWMA’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa.
Addressing the pupils, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, encouraged the young minds to deploy the creative experiences they acquired during the period, to good use in their homes and schools, having been trained in arts and crafts, among others.
He said:
“You can make use of the recyclables to make bins that you can place in your rooms when you get home.
“I equally want you to encourage your parents to procure their waste bins too, for proper containerisation of waste.
” Let them know you are now environment ambassadors. Practice all you have learnt.”
Certificates were given to the pupils by Odumboni, assisted by the agency’s Executive Director, Finance, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi and the Financial Controller, Mrs. Jemilat Adeniran.
