The Lagos State Government on Sunday called for improved safety measures in work places, hinting that the need for that would be its focus when it marks this year’s World Day for Safety at Work on Wednesday, April 28.
Mr Lanre Mojola, Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, in a statement in Lagos, said that the event was of utmost importance to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s desire for a healthy and well protected workforce.
According to him, the theme for the 2021 celebration, “Anticipate, Prepare and Respond to Crises – Invest Now in Resilient Occupational Safety and Health Systems”, challenges all employers to be proactive.
Mojola maintained that the COVID-19 pandemic had presented enormous challenges to governments, employers, workers and the general population, and alerted all to the need to always be ready for every eventuality.
He said that the Wednesday event would focus on strategies to strengthen national occupational safety and the need to build resilience toward tackling crises using daily experiences.
The official urged full participation of all stakeholders toward building an elaborate safety road map for workers’ safety, especially in the post-pandemic era.
The workers’ safety boss urged all to join the online programme that would commence at 9.00 a.m.
