Security operatives have rescued 14 out of the 18 passengers of the Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) bus abducted on Thursday.
The rescue operation was carried out by joint security team comprising the Police, the Nigerian Military, and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps
The passengers were abducted around 1.30pm on Thursday when suspected bandits intercepted the bus at Gidan Kifi village on the Marabar-Kankara Road.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson, Katsina Police Command confirmed the rescue of 14 passengers on Thursday night in a press release.
According to him, the joint task force in a swift response following a distress call, mobilised and engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle and successfully rescued 14 out of the 18 kidnapped victims.
He further disclosed that “We are currently investigating the situation and working diligently to locate the missing individuals.
“Our officers are deployed in the area where the abduction is reported to have occurred, conducting a thorough search and following all leads.”
