Members of the Northern Caucus of the House of Representatives have donated the sum of N45 million to the victims of military bombing in Tudun Biri community of Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.

The caucus also assured of providing the legal framework for the compensation and also ensuring that families of those that were killed are adequately captured in the compensation scheme.

Recall that the military, last Sunday, accidentally struck villagers celebrating Maulud and killed 126 people, leaving others severely injured.

The Chairman of the Caucus, Alhassan Doguwa, in a statement, issued Monday, condemned the incident in the strongest terms.

He said the caucus pledged to follow up with the federal government to ensure appropriate compensations for the victims and the community as promised.

It, however, commended the commitment of the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their patriotic commitments to combat the upsurge of insurgency, banditry and other criminal activities that plagued some parts of the country.

The caucus also promised to provide for various developmental projects ranging from the provision of healthcare facilities, blocks of classrooms, water boreholes and a community town hall worth N350 million to support the federal government efforts in rebuilding the community.

“Finally, the Caucus has announced a monetary donation of Mr Speaker and that of the Northern Regional Caucus of the Federal House of Representatives amounting to the sum of N45 million cash,” it said.

The Caucus commended President Bola Tinubu-led federal government for promptly reaching out to victims and for taking charge of the victims’ welfare.

The caucus further appreciated the government’s intention to rebuild the ill-fated community, resolving to pay a condolence visit to commiserate with the government and leaders of the Tudun Biri community.
