Basketballer, Brittney Griner has finally broke her silence following her return from Russia expressing gratitude to be back in the United States.
Griner in a statement on her Instagram page, Friday morning, December 16, thanked President Joe Biden and everyone else who helped get her out of Russian custody last week.
She however added that she will play basketball again, insisting she’ll be ready to roll for the Phoenix Mercury this upcoming season.
She wrote: “It feels so good to be home!”
“The last 10 months have been a battle at every turn,” she added.
“I dug deep to keep my faith and it was the love from so many of you that helped keep me going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for your help.”
“I look forward to being able to say ‘thank you’ to those of you who advocated, wrote, and posted for me in person soon,” she said.
Griner – who also shared a photo of the moment she was reunited with her wife – added that she’s going to do everything in her power to help Paul Whelan and other detained Americans return home soon, too.
“Every family deserves to be whole,” she said.
