Christian leaders in Imo state have sued for peace calling on all aggrieved persons to sheath their swords and ensure that lasting peace is restored in the state.
The leaders made the call after their meeting with Governor Hope Uzodimma in , Owerri over the current security situation in the State.
Addressing newsmen after a closed door session, the Prelate Methodist Church of Nigeria His Eminence Samuel Uche said as an apolitical group their role is to ensure that all aggrieved persons are reconciled in order to return peace to Imo state.
He added that the need to put an end to the security breaches in the state is paramount.
He urges youths in the state against being hired to cause mayhem and disrupt peace in Imo state.
Earlier in the meeting, Governor Hope Uzodimma stated that the meeting is part of the strategic engagement as a result of heightened insecurity in the state.
Especially in the face of false information as regards the issues.
The Governor disclosed that the events of last three months has shown that there is a deliberate design to make Imo state ungovernable.
He added “We are not averse to a stakeholders meeting but we are taking it sector by sector”.
He further reassured the Christian Leaders and Ndi Imo in general “I will never compromise on ensuring the security of our state”.
