The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Wednesday, April 18th, 2023, presented a certificate of return to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as elected Governor of Adamawa State.
After several controversies trailing the Governorship election, Mele Lamido, the returning officer for the Adamawa governorship election, declared Fintiri as the winner of the election on Tuesday, April 18th.
He was declared after the collation of the supplementary election results.
Fintiri polled four hundred and thirty thousand eight sixty one (430,861) to defeat his closest challenger Aishatu Dahiru popularly known as binani of the All progressives Congress APC who polled three hundred and ninety six thousand seven eighty eight (396,788) in the keenly contested election.
Binani was earlier announced winner illegally by the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Hudu Yunusa Ari.
