The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Prof. Charles Soludo winner of the governorship election held in Anambra State.
“That Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” said the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Chief Returning Officer for the poll, Professor Florence Obi, in announcing the outcome on Wednesday morning in Awka.
The election was held on Saturday, with a supplementary poll held in Ihiala Local Government on Tuesday.
Charles Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank won 19 of the 21 Local Governments election results declared by INEC.
The APGA governorship candidate polled 112,229 votes to lead Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who posted a distant 53,807 votes to emerge second, while Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 43,285 votes to emerge third.
Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, came fourth with 21,261 votes.
