President Bola Tinubu says he is not ready to downsize his cabinet to cut down the cost of governance.
Tinubu who said this at the first presidential media chat aired on NTA on Monday night while reacting to the criticisms of those who say he is keeping a large cabinet.
The President said every member of his cabinet was performing well.
Tinubu explained that the current structure was designed to ensure efficient governance for a large nation like Nigeria.
According to him, the country’s population of over 200 million requires a substantial number of officials to manage its affairs.
“I’m not prepared to bring down the number of my cabinet. I saw the need for them when I created the portfolio.
“They have their job descriptions. If you have to entertain 200 million people, calculate how many stewards you will require. Let us pay attention to efficiency.”
