The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has again extended the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles, moving the deadline from August to October 2, 2025.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the extension following what the Force described as a significant surge in applications through its official platform, https://possap.gov.ng.
The Police said the move would allow more time to carefully scrutinize applications and ensure permits are issued only to qualified and eligible persons in line with national security considerations.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the additional time would also be used to fine-tune both digital and physical verification processes to maintain the integrity of the system and curb abuse.
The Police urged applicants and vehicle owners to shun unofficial channels for obtaining permits and to report any form of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
“The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the cooperation of the Nigerian people and remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all,” the statement reads in part.
The extension marks the second major shift in the enforcement timeline, underscoring the Police’s attempt to balance compliance drive with operational transparency and public convenience.
