The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has said that the military needs political capital to effectively address the country’s security issues.
In an interview in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa, Kwankwaso said he is knowledgeable about security issues owing to his time as a minister of defence.
The former governor of Kano said there is a need for security personnel to be trained and retrained over time.
“We have a big problem in the country in terms of insecurity
“As a former minister of defence, I am knowledgeable about security. I believe that our military has the capacity to stop this mess through political will, encouragement, training and retraining of personnel.
“We will deal with corruption; we will bring integrity and capacity into the system; we will fight corruption decisively.”
