It was gathered that the hoodlums stormed the party’s campaign secretariat, destroyed and set aflame a billboard bearing the picture of President Bola Tinubu and Murtala Ajaka, and also smashed the glass windows of the office.

A group of individuals recently reportedly invaded the campaign office, located along Paparanda Kpata market, and instructed guards to remove the picture of President Bola Tinubu since he is not a member of SDP.

Ajaka previously donated the office as the presidential campaign secretariat for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the ruling All Progressives Congress presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

The building was eventually converted into SDP governorship campaign office.

Recall that the SDP governorship candidate was a former APC Deputy Publicity Secretary before resigning from the party.

Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, SDP’s deputy governorship candidate, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate and unwarranted.

While noting that the destruction of the campaign office and billboard is not a criterion for winning the election come November 11, the former vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi stated that SDP had received a series of threats in the last week.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the political mentor of my principal, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, and also the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; we owe him that respect, and that is why we have his pictures on our billboard, irrespective of political party,” he explained.

Abenemi urged SDP members and supporters to remain calm and focused on rescuing Kogi State from bad leadership.
